Hello members of the NJ-SLA discussion list.

My name is Susan Kantor and I am the chapter's career guidance chair. We are endeavoring to create a mentor/mentee list.

In order to help the students become better acquainted with what we do as information professionals; I would like to create a contact list of local members of SLA. For mentors who would like to participate in this project, I would need your corporate information, the fields in which you will be able to help, what is your preferred contact point, and the days or hours of the day that you will be willing to be contacted. Please include what type of company you work for. For mentees who would like to participate, I would need your contact information and what you feel you require assistance for.

Mentors

• Must be a current member of SLA.
• Must be a member of the NJSLA chapter Must have at least one year professional experience.

Mentees

• Must be a current member of SLA or a current Rutgers SCILS student.
• New Jersey Chapter membership is encouraged but not required.

Mentoring can easily be accomplished via telephone, e-mail or in person.

Topics can include:

• resume review
• interview skills
• shadowing for a day
• professional development opportunities
• interpersonal skills
